Mullion is a bustling village with a great choice of amenities including delicatessen, grocery, bakery, pharmacy, post office, pubs and cafes. On the outskirts of the village is England’s most southerly 18-hole golf course with fantastic views over Mounts Bay and there are several other beautiful courses in the area, some of which provide discounted green fees for guests at Arranz. If you would like to try a canter across the beach, Newton Livery Stables offers pony treks and riding lessons as well as carriage rides.

Helston town, famous for its Furry Dance held each year in May is 9 miles away.

The Lizard Peninsula has a unique character. Beautiful at any time of the year, there is nowhere like it anywhere else in the UK. In spring and early summer, the cliff tops and hedgerows are overflowing with wild flowers of every colour and description due to the area's sub-tropical climate. Summertime brings long, hot days – perfect for sunbathing or exploring the caves and rock pools of the local beaches – Polurian, Poldu and Church Cove.  Maybe try your hand at PowerKiting, KiteBuggying, Boarding or Surfing with a day’s instruction from Mobius. Perhaps spend some time SCUBA diving or enjoy a day at Flambards.  The region’s temperate climate often ensures good weather throughout autumn while winter is a time for watching spectacular seas and enjoying bracing cliff-top walks. A number of walk-cards and maps are available for your use.  Bird Watchers are also in for a treat in the area, which is renowned for migrant birds and, in particular, the number of unusual species which arrive at different times of the year.

The air is crisp, clear and unpolluted by industry. This is why the Lizard has been a constant source of inspiration for artists and writers and a popular haven for those seeking a simpler way of life.

There’s plenty to do on the doorstep so why not make Arranz your base to explore the area - from the art galleries at St. Ives, Marazion and Newlyn, yachting haven Falmouth with the National Maritime Museum (10% discount on admission for guests staying at Arranz), Europe's largest Naval Air Station RNAS Culdrose (Summer month only), Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station, Gweek Seal Sanctuary, beautiful gardens such as Glendurgan, Trevarno and Trelissick, to the sun drenched Isles of Scilly and mystical St. Michael’s Mount.

Slightly furthur afield are the gardeners’ wonderlands of The Eden Project and the Lost Garden of Heligan and the ruins of Tintagel Castle, fabled location of King Arthur’s Camelot.

For those days when the weather is not so good, Arranz has been equipped with LCD Television with VCR/DVD and Freeview.  A PlayStation2 and Stereo system are also provided.  A small selection of Videos, DVDs and PS2 games are provided for you to use during your stay, or you can bring your own favourites, just in case.  While the children battle alien invaders in the Lounge, the adults may prefer to relax with a good book in the Conservatory.  Again, a selection of books is available for your use.  We also have a small selection of children’s games.

Alternatively, just a few minutes drive or walk will take you to the Polurrian Hotel, where you can take out a daily leisure club membership for £5 per adult, £3 per child, or £12 Family membership for 2 adults and 2 children.  Daily membership will give you full use of the hotel’s leisure facilities, including Indoor Pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Gymnasium, Squash and Tennis courts, from 8am until 7.45pm
